Miss Latino 2001 was staged at Melbourne's Mercury Lounge, the WogLife Crew figured that spicing up a Sunday night eyeing some Latin lovelies was just what was needed and headed down to check out the action. Of course being multimedia mega stars we were given the nod by the event organiser and all round nice guy Roberto to take some pics for all you poor souls out there who couldn't make it.

Miss Latina is a fashion and beauty contest where good Aussie girls get to represent their ancestral roots and strut their stuff with pride for all to see. This years ladies represented, Argentina, Brasil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Puerto Rico, Salvador, Spain, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

The night also included some great Latin and modern dancing from groups such as the Funkmasters on stage and also from the crowd themselves before the event got underway.

The girls paraded in front of several hundred adoring fans in swimwear and evening wear, the crowd screamed for their favourites, which included Miss Venezuela, Salvador, Spain and Uruguay. But as per usual the judges had to break some hearts and pick just one winner. This year they decided that the beautiful Miss Venezuela deserved third place, the vibrant Lina from Peru had the right stuff to secure second place and after much pomp and ceremony Miss Salvador who wowed the crowd with her totally Latin looks was crowned as Miss Latino 2001.
